潘洵自幼便随祖母及同为中国著名钢琴家的父母(潘一鸣教授和应诗真教授)接受音乐启蒙教育，这对他日后取得的骄人的成就起了至关重要的作用。他1984年考入中国中央音乐学院，学习期间曾两次荣获中国第一个音乐奖学金 --- “沈心工奖学金” 。毕业后考入美国纽约雪城大学(Syracuse University) 继续深造，并于1996年获美国罗格斯大学(Rutgus University) 钢琴演奏博士学位。潘洵曾先后师从于应诗真，潘一鸣，朱工一和提奥多∙列特文(Theodore Lettvin) 等国内外著名音乐教授。

        潘洵曾在国内及国际比赛中多次获奖。1986年，他首次在北京举行的中国民族作品钢琴比赛中脱颖而出，荣获一等奖；继而又在1987年在智利举行的第十四届“Dr.Luis Sigall” 国际钢琴比赛中技压群雄荣获大奖；1990年，他代表中国参加朝鲜平壤第四届国际艺术节并获奖；1992年，他在高手云集的美国第四届“Frinna Awerbuch”国际钢琴大赛中再展雄风雄抱得奖杯，并由此取得第一次在卡内基音乐厅演奏的机会；1994 年，他参加了美国纽约举行的国际艺术家比赛(Artists International)，又一次凭着评委一致公认的雄厚音乐实力而获首奖。一如美国权威音乐杂志Star Ledger的评述：“他（潘洵）用超凡的音乐和娴熟的技巧感动了观众。” 而由于潘洵近几年在国际音乐界的突出表现，“Frinna Awerbuch”国际钢琴比赛组委会更邀请他担任2006年比赛的评委。

        潘洵凭就其自身雄厚的实力，有幸在美国的林肯中心，卡内基音乐厅等著名场所成功地举办过个人独奏音乐会。音乐无界，潘洵的音乐足迹遍布世界多个国家与城市，象是莫斯科，圣地亚哥，新加坡，平壤，布达佩斯，纽约，伦敦，洛杉矶，威尼斯，华盛顿，里斯本，法兰克福，多伦多，波士顿，及中国很多的城市都曾飘扬过潘洵美妙的音符。除此之外，潘洵还与美国小提琴家嘉玛尼斯先生 (Michael Jamanis) 及加拿大优秀大提琴家梅尔女士 (Sara Male) 组成“纽斯德” 三重奏组(Newstead Trio)，从事室内乐演奏，并聘请世界著名音乐大师 Arnold Steinhardt, Theodore Lettvin 和Bernard Greenhouse为 音乐指导，在包括中国西藏在内的世界各地进行演出。三人乐队虽组建不久，但迄今为止已经灌录了五张唱片，无论就演奏风格，演奏技巧及曲目编排而言，均可堪称上乘之作。唱片大多曲目虽为莫扎特, 贝多芬和德沃夏克的古典名曲，但也对多元文化的曲目进行了大胆及成功的尝试，将中西音乐的精华完美合璧。他们也演奏许多二十世纪和二十一世纪的新作品，包括多首专门献给“纽斯德” 三重奏的作品。他们的最近一张CD获得美国音乐杂志Fanfare的极高评价。由于在音乐上的突出成就，潘洵自1997年起便入选英国剑桥大学的《国际音乐名人录》(International Who’s Who Directory) 和《国际传记字典》(Dictionary of International Biography)。

     潘洵现任教于美国宾夕法尼亚音乐学院 (Pennsylvania Academy of Music) 并任该院钢琴系主任。他还同时担任北京中国音乐学院，温州大学，中国西北民族大学等学校的客座教授，并在世界各地举办大师课并担任许多著名音乐节的教授，其中包括维也纳雷协悌兹基音乐大师班暨夏令营 (International Leschetizky Music Academy Summer Master Classes) ；美国“音乐之声” 艺术节(Music Naturally) ；意大利国际室内乐音乐节(Positano International Chamber Music Festival)等。

Chinese born pianist Xun Pan received his early musical training from his grandmother and pianists-parents, Pan Yi-Ming and Ying Shi-Zhen. He continued his studies at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, Syracuse University in New York, and earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Rutgers University in New Jersey.

       Mr. Pan has won many international piano competitions and awards, beginning with first prize in the 1986 China National Piano Competition in Beijing, and the "Dr. Luis Sigall" International Piano Competition in Chile in 1987, the International Festival Piano Competition in Korea in 1990, the Frinna Awerbuch International Piano Competition in New York in 1992, and the Artists International Competition in New York in 1993. A student of Theodore Lettvin, Mr. Pan has performed solo recitals worldwide from Carnegie Weill Hall to Beijing National Center for Performing Arts. He has performed in Moscow, Santiago, Singapore, Beijing, Shanghai, Pyong-Yang, London, Los Angeles, Frankfurt, Taipei, Budapest, New York, Vina Del Mar, Lisbon, Toronto, Boston, and many other cities in the world.        A noted chamber musician, Mr. Pan is the pianist of the Newstead Trio, one of the most distinguished piano trios in North America. They have been broadcast live on radio and television. They also released several highly acclaimed recordings.

       Mr. Pan is a faculty member of the Pennsylvania Academy of Music as the Chairman of the Piano Department. He is also visiting professor at China Conservatory of Music, at China Northwest University for Nationalities, and at Wenzhou University.
